The age of the Anglo-Saxons was barbaric and treacherous. From Egbert in 802 right through to Harold II getting an arrow through his eye in 1066 (so the famous old story goes) a huge twenty-two individual kings ruled either some or all of the Anglo-Saxon world. Compare this with the modern period, when there has been nine British monarchs since George II ascended to the throne in 1760. This gives you some idea of the instability Anglo-Saxon kings had to contend with.

As you read through this potted history of the Anglo-Saxon kings, you will see that despite them belonging to another time and place, in terms of their personalities and traits they are no different to modern leaders. Some are vain and self-serving, while others are strong and inspirational. One thing all the Anglo-Saxon kings do have in common though is character.

A Potted History Of The AngloSaxon Kings England’s Early Rulers eBook Gerry McGyver

This very short book is a nice reference to the major Anglo-Saxon kings from 802 up to 1066. There's about one page on each one. The history is conventional. Sometimes an opinion is given as fact - e.g., that Edward the Confessor had no children because he was celibate. I think most historians agree he was more interested in the Church than in his wife, but I doubt we really know the details of his marital relations. A good edit/proofreading, which for 24 pages or so would not be a big job, would improve the book. There are the usual sprinkling of wrong punctuation, misplaced apostrophes, and typos that crop up in self-published books. More serious are things like the fact that the section entitled "King Eadwig" calls the king "Eadred" in all instances but one. Eadric Streona is also misspelt as Eadric Sreona. Still, all in all, a handy little reference.
